From his early days playing guitar and keyboard in Illinois-based indie/punk/post-rock bands (i.e., 'Birdfeeder', 'Supporting Actress' and 'Inlantic') and as exemplified on his 2001 musical anthology, 'A Journal of Cuts {1989-1999}', Steven Zydek's tendency toward musical exploration runs deep.

These days, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Zydek is focused on exploring the fusion of 60s-70s Jazz, 90s Indie Rock and looped samples dug from digital sources and obscure vinyl - much in the style of modern boom-bap hip-hop and EDM producers.

In Zydek's Fall 2017 EP release, 'Waterlogged', the listener takes a lively sonic journey that is at times atmospheric, jazzy and laced with subtle hooks. Each of the five loosely connected instrumental tracks blend synthetically designed sound structures with improvised performances using a vintage Fender Rhodes piano and hollow body guitars.
